Daniel J. Tomes, MD, FAANS specializes in surgery of the spine, brain, and peripheral nerves at The Nebraska Neurosurgery Group, LLC.

Dr Tomes received his Doctorate of Medicine, with Distinction, in 1997 at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, NE.  He completed a general surgery internship and neurological surgery residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident of Neurosurgery at UNMC from 2002-03.

Dr Tomes has been in practice in Lincoln, NE, since 2004, and is on staff at the various Lincoln hospitals. He also provides neurosurgical consultation in office as well as at multiple outreach clinics across Southeast and Central Nebraska.  His operative interests include brain and spinal tumor resection, management of traumatic and athletic injuries of the brain and spine, minimally invasive spinal discectomy and fusion, stereotactic radiosurgery, and carpal tunnel release surgery.

Dr Tomes has been involved with many initiatives promoting healthcare and wellbeing. He is Medical Director for the Nebraska Sports Concussion Network, a project to help educate and properly treat student athletes suffering the effects of concussion. He is on the Board of Directors for Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, serving on the executive committee.   Dr Tomes has been listed by Becker’s Spine Review as one of the top 40 “spine surgeons to know” in America.
